Kansas City, here we come!

Hi, everyone!

Yes, we are still in Missouri. Took us all day to get across the state, but we encountered one of those famous Mid-western thunderstorms (see pic of gathering clouds). Thank goodness it didn't develop into a twister. We also stopped at a neat little place called, Nostaliaville. There was memorabilia there from I Love Lucy, Elvis, Betty Boop, Wizard of Oz, Scoobie Doo, old radio and tv shows from way back. It was fun. We bought a sticker for our Airstream, a Route 66 sticker. We didn't realize it until this morning that our campground last night was on Rt. 66!

And, for all you catsup (ketchup) lovers out there, I've included a pic of the largest catsup bottle in the world. Lest you think we are weird for seeking out such a thing, another car pulled up beside ours and a couple from Florida (also heading to Yellowstone) got out to take a photo. So there!

A funny thing happened on the way to Kansas City. We lost our sewage hose! It apparently flew out of its cubbie pipe somewhere along I-70. We had a good laugh imagining what the people in the car behind us thought. They probably had a good laugh, too.

We'll probably stay 2 nights here in Independence, MO. just east of Kansas City. There is a WWI museum and memorial here as well as lots of interesting Truman related places to visit. When we get back on the road, we'll take a northerly route towards Rapid City, SD.

Stay tuned.

Carolyn
